I’ve been trying to find an HTTP client that feels comfortable, right, native, and not bloated for years.
I’m a macOS user, so when an app feels and looks more native, everything starts making more sense for me. I’ve been using Bruno lately, but I want something more along that line, and I tried Yaak after seeing it on HN.
I feel that Yaak checks a lot of those points, but I have some feedback to give.
Using GitHub theme, when I open the app I can see a white background flashing for a split second. That gives a very unpolished impression right away. It should retain the last theme colors and try to be smooth while opening.
Font sizes. I feel that a lot of the font sizes are wrong. Using an LoDPI display, I feel that it looks worse, but I didn’t touch any of the sizes in the settings, but:
The URL font size is too small, it should be the same as the tabs.
I’m using cmd+0 zoom and the text feels too big. I think that doesn’t represent the “regular” size of most of the apps.
Looking at the font size of the “Trialing” badge, it feels right to my eyes, I don’t know how to explain :D
Font type. I would love to use system font everywhere, but for some reason there are many places where it’s different?
Is the system font really the system font? It looks very “boxy”.
Apart from that, it looks excellent. I didn’t try the Git setup yet, but I like that it is based on YAML and also not a proprietary syntax and I look forward to keep trying.
